Charles, CHTechOne is ACT's demo database. You probably lost your path to your company database. Do a system search on .PAD and you should find it again. If not, use our technical support ticketing system to send us an ACT! help request. - Lori

Hi, Randy - at the bare basic level, all do the same thing. ACT is the only one of the 4 that can reside on a PC or laptop, helpful if you're not always connected to the internet when you want to work on your CRM system. Question differentiators in decision making, to me, are: do you plan to use your CRM to sell products and services via e-commerce? Do you have an IT department (or geek) to help you with troubleshooting or can you figure things out on your own? Do you plan to pick a platform and NEVER change or do you want the flexibility to retrieve your data if you decide to do something different in the future? Since I only know ACT well, these are the questions I'd recommend you ask when scoping out the other programs. Thanks for asking! - Lori

Hi Lori, We talked a few months ago about gettting new computers and upgrading our ACT. We currently use Version 6.0 so I know we will need to do a database conversion. Couple of quick questions to make sure we are buying the right version:

1. The new computers have Windows 7 - 64 bit - is that a problem?
2. We will have 2 computers with Act - one would house the database but we would want both computers to have access to the database and make changes. Is Standard version okay?
3. How difficult is the conversion?
4. Do we go with ACT 2011 or ACT 2010?
5. Looking for best prices...

I have a client who needs to do an ACT 6.0 to 2010 upgrade as well. Does ACT2010 have the conversion procedure built in, or do we need to buy an extra program to do it?

Hi I'd like to follow up on the last question. How difficult is the database conversion? We also are using Act 6.0 and want to go to Windows 7 with an upgraded version of ACT. Is there a separate disc to get for the conversion or is it part of the upgrade to ACT 2010? We are using 3 different computers and they are networked together so when 1 computer changes, they all change. Which edition of the ACT 2010 should we get?

Thank you for your help!

Robert, ACT 6.0 requires a conversion rather than an upgrade if you want to maintain your notes, history and activities. You can't copy the existing data and a straight upgrade will only keep your contact information. But it's a one-time process, and then you're current.

Hi,

Great resource for ACT! users. My company is on ACT! 6.0 and we want to migrate to 2010 on new laptops running Windows 7. What's the best option? Can we just purchase the ACT Upgrade software and copy over our existing database? Does the standard ACT 2010 version also convert 6.0 files? We would have at most 5 users. Appreciate your suggestions.
