I enjoyed reading your story about Megabus. I too often want to "jump the counter" to fix other vendor problems that seem so easy to fix. I've not ridden Megabus but in their defense many college students (my children and friends) do. They operate on the European time table of precise departures and I've never ever heard one story about delays or lateness which is why they are getting a following here vs Amtrack or Greyhounds. I've only heard the warning don't be late to the stop or you'll miss the bus. Maybe the late bus was such a unique out of the ordinary situation that no plan of action was available!

So? Have you sent these very excellent suggestions to Megabus? Every time I hear someone complain that there's "no such thing as customer service anymore," everyone in the group begin to speak about a retail shopping experience... as though the minimum wage employee behind the counter has power to hire more people into the department! In fact, some of the WORST customer service situations happen in the service industry... not retail. Seriously, if UPS or Fedex lost as many pieces of mail as the airlines lose luggage, they'd be out of business. We've all waited on the "cable guy" who never showed, without one single follow-up call from the cable company... I guess they have no idea where these guys are or what they are doing! The customer service problem in this country does not start with the 16-year-old kid behind the counter... it starts with the 56-year-old CEO who is so focused on the numbers at the bottom line, they completely overlook the person handing them the money!
