| Since I began consulting on database marketing nearly 20 years ago, the #1 dilemma that brought my clients to me went something like this, "I think I need a marketing strategy. My current customers sometimes buy from my competition, even though we sell the same thing. And we lose too many leads that never get followed up on. I know there are things I should be doing, but I don't know what to do first and I can't get started. Can you help?"
Database marketing is the simple answer to this dilemma. Simple, but not easy. Here's why…
Q: What is the most valuable asset your company has?
A: It’s not…
- Products or inventory
- Real estate
- Employees
The correct answer is your customer database. Most businesses know they must take care of their current customers or risk losing them to the competition. After all, everyone knows it’s 10 times easier to re-sell an existing customer than to find a new one.
But what does “take care of” actually mean? And why do so many business owners and sales professionals back-burner this critical asset in favor of a quest for more new customers? I believe it’s because…
You may not be sure what marketing strategies to use
and when to use them.
I launched this 6-month database marketing coaching club
to teach you how to profit from your customer list
using proven database marketing principles.
What Are the Goals of the Database Marketing Coaching Club?
The 6-month program is designed to help you build a solid foundation for your database marketing. During this time you will accomplish the following:
- You'll get very clear on where you are going with your business and what you want to accomplish with your marketing. (Could there be a better time to plan for your success in 2007 than right now while you still have time to make an impact on your bottom line?) You'll discover a direction you can be passionate about. You'll learn how to execute your marketing on a consistent basis–even if you "don't have time."
- You'll nail down your sales letters, email blasts and telephone “scripts” so that they express clearly and concisely what it is you provide to your clients and how your business is unique. And perhaps for the first time, your customers and prospects will really start to get it. You'll get attention and interest (the first stages of A-I-D-A, the formula for successful selling) at a whole new level. The more you fine tune, the better it works. You'll take the steps necessary to create a "marketing machine" that consistently attracts more clients automatically.
- You'll start attracting better clients who'll pay you more. We'll focus on packaging and selling the services you have that are geared to producing testimonial-level results for your clients – services that are more highly valued and more in demand. You’ll create a complete set of marketing materials (including responsive web pages) that educate, inform and build confidence in you and your service. This is the heart of your successful marketing program, and it will sustain you for years to come.
- You'll create a 2007-08 Marketing Planner with specific accountability and a timeline. You'll take steps to go past current limitations. (You can't keep doing what you're doing and expect different results.) We'll support you in stepping outside your box and doing things you've always wanted to do but have avoided up to now.
- You'll create more balance and power in your business so that you can have more time for your family and non-working interests while your business thrives. We'll give you the tools and support to make your business fun, not a burden. This is your special time devoted to what the eMyth calls "working on your business."
Who Is the Database Marketing Coaching Club For?
The Coaching Club is right for you if you:
- Maintain your customers and prospects in a marketing database like ACT!, Goldmine, Salesforce.com, Microsoft Access or other similar contact management or CRM software (Note: Excel and Outlook are NOT databases. If you are accepted into this coaching group, you will be expected to buy database software.)
- Have a designated marketing assistant who can execute your marketing plan and maintain activity deadlines OR
- Don’t have a designated marketing assistant but you know you need to learn this stuff and are willing to make the commitment to learn it, implement it and stick with it over time
- Have been in business for awhile. You've done some things to market your business; however you know you must do a lot more
- Are pretty clear about your overall marketing message. You know what to say when people ask you what you do, and you’ve had some success in getting people interested in your services.
- You have printed marketing materials and/or a web site. You may also have other materials available, such as articles, white papers, reports, etc., that you have created or that are available to you through your industry but you're not sure how to package it all together in a cohesive, sequentially sensible format.
- Have a basic marketing plan. You know what you need to do but you don't consistently put this plan into action. You believe you could accomplish more if you had confirmation of your ideas, support and motivation.
Additionally, the Course is right for you
if you have high-achieving personal goals, such as:
- You want to make a difference. For you, business isn't just about making money; it's about making a contribution. You are committed to doing everything possible to help your clients succeed.
- Your business is your passion. It's not just something to bring in a paycheck until something better comes along. You are committed to growing in your profession and you're in it for the long haul.
- You are action-oriented and a self-starter. (If you're waiting around for recognition or if you take months to think something through without moving until you understand it “cold,” then this Course will only irritate you.) We'll ask you to step outside your comfort zone every month to think about your business in a way you never have before and to produce unexpected results.
- You're willing to experiment and be persistent. Even if you're following proven marketing principles and strategies, you understand that marketing is more of an art, not a science. Not everything you try will work. You (or your boss) must be able to tolerate uncertainty and some non-successes without getting discouraged. (You know, psychology has proven that humans learn more from non-successes than they do from their successes.)
- You see life and your career as an adventure. Business, marketing and life are all games that can be played with a great deal of energy and fun or they can be taken much too seriously. You're going to have much better results if you’re open to personal growth as well as business success.
What is the Structure of the Database Marketing Coaching Club?
Each month for 6 months you will attend a 2-hour coaching workshop at Aviva’s web-enabled training center. You will bring a laptop with a copy of your database on it so you can work on your own live data as you learn. (If you don't have access to a laptop, please let us know so we can make arrangements to accommodate you.)
The Coaching Club is limited to 20 non-competing members, so that you will receive personalized coaching and so you will feel comfortable sharing informaton about your company in a small, trusting environment.
Each month we will have a specific database-marketing strategy focus. Each session will build a foundation for the subsequent week, until, after the final week, you will have created a complete 2007-08 Marketing Action Plan based on your own customer database.
I will start each session with an interactive presentation on the week’s topic. Then you will be asked to participate in a hands-on exercise to execute what you've learned and incorporate it into your database marketing plan.
At the close of each session, you'll get homework assignments to work on over the next month and make a commitment to what you'll accomplish inbetween sessions. In other words, we'll "hold your feet to the fire" to make sure you keep moving forward.
In addition, throughout the 6-month term you'll have direct access to me. You may email or phone me with questions on anything pertaining to marketing your business for as long as you are in the program.
Each session is recorded and will be available to you on Aviva’s Members-Only webpage. You can download them or listen to them if you must miss a session or want to review the week’s “a-ha moments.”
As you create your marketing communications (in class and between sessions), you will receive weekly feedback by phone and/or by email on your marketing messages, written materials and plans as you develop them. Every single participant will get attention and coaching from me personally.
How Much Does It Cost?
The investment for the 6-month Database Marketing Coaching Club is $100.00 per month, payable on the first day of each month by automatic credit card charge. You can pay with any major credit card.
